SYNOPSIS
As a central meeting point, the Esplanade Concourse is a critical and highly charged site. UDARA YANG BERGERAK is a spatial composition that references the flow and energy of the space. The moving air suggests a latent current that is capable of shaping and affecting things. More importantly, it resonates with the concept of harmony where air movement is controlled by the continuity of the flow to create equilibrium.
A multi-disciplinary practitioner specialising in the area of wearable and spatial structures, Tan’s experimentations often blur the lines between design, art, and mathematics. Formally trained in fashion design, Tan has culminated an extensive portfolio with in-depth industrial knowledge and collaborative experience with various disciplines. She founded kwodrent in 2003 after working with Song & Kelly as its womens wear designer for four years. In addition to her design career, Tan develops and teaches the Design Concepts curriculum at School of The Arts, Singapore. She is also an Associate Artist at The Substation Associate Artist Research Programme. Born in Malaysia, Tan is currently based in Singapore.
