SYNOPSIS
"One morning while lying on her bed, she found herself transformed into an orchid mantis. She stops at an orchid; pretends to be an orchid; nobody notices, nobody discriminates. Every time she stops for a rest, she remains safe, out of human sight."
Using the metaphor of a camouflaging insect, this performance takes you beyond the daily appearances of individuals in the city and into their private lives.
You hear your neighbour sing prayers to her deity. When you hear her, do you pray along? You see a man dance alone in his box. When he dances with a girl, are they less alone? Their gates keep them safe inside, safe and alone in their disguises and dreams.
With the clever use of visual imagery and lighting, hauntingly hypnotic music, edgy contemporary dance segments and a cast and crew of award-winning artists, this multi-disciplinary production explores insights into our urban souls. In our quest for advancement, has our society and citizens progressed or actually regressed?
