SYNOPSIS
Based on true stories collected from the National Archives of Singapore, this story revolves around an uneasy and unlikely friendship between a Japanese soldier and a Singapore boy during World War II.
Reminded of his younger brother back home, the homesick Japanese soldier takes the local boy under his wing. However, their friendship invites stares and anger from both the local population and the soldier’s officers.
This is a powerful educational drama about survival and courage in times of war. Through drama and puppetry, My Friend, A Japanese Soldier will help students to acquire knowledge of how things were when Singapore was under Japanese rule.
